Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 Recall 26V228: School Bus Warning Lights and Stop Arm May Not Activate

NHTSA campaign 26V228, reported April 9, 2026, 3,285 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2024-2027 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses may have software that misreads contact with the door switch as a signal to turn off. If the door switch is bumped, the amber and red warning lights and the stop sign arm can be deactivated.

When these lights and the stop arm do not activate, other drivers are not warned that the bus is slowing down or stopping for students. This raises the risk of a crash or injury to students and others on the road.

Dealers will update the amber and red warning light software at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed June 2, 2026. You can contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712, referencing recall F1032, and check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
