What this recall means for you
Certain Pierce aerial firetrucks from 2015 and 2016 (Arrow XT, Enforcer, Impel, and Velocity models with 107-foot ladder or 110-foot platform and a single rear axle) may keep the firm-on-ground indicator light lit after the rear stabilizer has lost contact with the ground. The light is meant to confirm the stabilizer is firmly planted before the aerial device is used.
Because the light can be wrong, an operator may believe the stabilizer is firmly on the ground and operate the aerial device when the vehicle could shift during use. That increases the risk of injury.
Owners should contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723 for instructions. Pierce will provide a free software update and an aerial device functional check, which can be done at no cost. Check your vehicle's VIN for any open recalls.
