Chevrolet Malibu Recall 26V212: Rearview camera may show a distorted or blank image

NHTSA campaign 26V212, reported April 2, 2026, 276,879 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023-2025 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles may have a rearview camera whose screen displays a distorted or blank image. When the image does not display correctly, the driver's view behind the vehicle is reduced.

A reduced view behind the vehicle increases the risk of a crash, particularly while backing up. Owners should be cautious when reversing and check behind the vehicle directly, including by turning around and looking over the shoulder, until the issue is repaired.

Authorized Chevrolet dealers will inspect the rearview camera and replace it if necessary, at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed May 20, 2026. You can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and you can check whether your vehicle is affected by entering your VIN in the open recall search on NHTSA.gov.
