What this recall means for you
The image processing module that runs the rearview camera and several driver assistance features can reset on its own several times. When it does, the rearview camera image is lost, and features such as pre-collision assist, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring stop working.
Without the rearview camera and these safety features, the driver may not spot hazards behind or beside the vehicle, which raises the risk of a crash.
The fix is a software update to the image processing module, provided free of charge. A dealer can perform it, or it may be delivered over the air. Owners are being notified in phases, with letters mailed starting April 13, 2026. You can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall 26S21), or check your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA.gov, where VINs for this recall become searchable beginning March 25, 2026.
