Gillig LOW Floor Recall 26V144: High-voltage cable can overheat and cause a fire

NHTSA campaign 26V144, reported March 12, 2026, 424 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023-2026 Gillig Low Floor transit buses have a high-voltage cable linking the inverter to the drive unit that contains a splice connection with a reduced amp capacity rating. This can cause the cable to overheat.

Overheating raises the risk of a fire. Owners should follow the recall process: an interim software reprogramming is provided, and a final remedy replaces the high-voltage cable. Both repairs are free of charge at an authorized dealer. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 27, 2026.

To confirm whether your bus is affected, check your VIN for open recalls and contact Gillig customer service at 1-800-735-1500.
