Chevrolet Tahoe Recall 26V085: Rear Wheels Can Lock Up While Driving, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 26V085, reported February 13, 2026, 43,743 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2022 full-size SUVs, including the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Transmission Range Select (ETRS) may have a transmission control valve that can fail. If it fails, the rear wheels can lock up while the vehicle is being driven.

Rear wheels that lock up unexpectedly increase the risk of a crash. Owners who receive a notice should not ignore it, and should keep in mind that the defect can affect the vehicle while it is in normal use.

Dealers will install new transmission control module (TCM) software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 7, 2026. You can check whether your vehicle is included by entering your VIN on NHTSA.gov, and you may contact GM, Cadillac, GMC or Chevrolet customer service for help with the recall.
