Nissan Rogue Recall 26V080: Engine Oil Can Break Down and Cause Engine Failure or Fire

NHTSA campaign 26V080, reported February 11, 2026, 323,917 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain vehicles with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine can overheat, causing the engine oil to break down. The engine bearings may then seize and become damaged, which can lead to engine failure. A bearing failure can also breach the engine block and release hot oil, raising the risk of an engine fire. Engine failure can cause a loss of drive power, which increases the risk of a crash.

An authorized dealer will reprogram the engine control module software, check for diagnostic trouble codes, and test drive the vehicle. The dealer may also inspect the oil pan for metal debris and replace the engine if necessary. All repairs are free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. You can contact Nissan customer service at 800-647-7261, and VINs involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov starting February 27, 2026. Check your VIN for open recalls.
