Rivian R1S Recall 26V009: Loose Rear Seat Belt Bolts May Weaken Crash Protection

NHTSA campaign 26V009, reported January 15, 2026, 869 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some Rivian R1T and R1S vehicles may have the bolts securing the second-row driver and passenger side seat belt retractor assemblies improperly tightened. If these bolts are not secure, the seat belt retractor may not adequately restrain the rear seat occupant, which increases the risk of injury in a crash.

Rivian will inspect the second-row seat belt retractor bolts and tighten them as necessary. The repair is free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 2, 2026. You can contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261 and reference recall FSAM-1795.

Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls on the NHTSA website, and schedule the inspection with an authorized Rivian service center if your vehicle is affected.
