Hyundai Tucson Recall 25V893: Tucson Tow Harness May Leak Water, Risking Fire

NHTSA campaign 25V893, reported December 18, 2025, 51,587 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2022-2024 Hyundai Tucson vehicles with the optional Mobis tow hitch wiring harness may have been installed incorrectly. This can allow water to get into the control module, where moisture buildup may cause trailer lights to stop working or an electrical short circuit to occur.

Nonfunctioning trailer lights can increase the risk of a crash, and a short circuit can increase the risk of a fire. Until the repair is done, Hyundai advises owners to park outdoors and away from structures.

The repair is free. Dealers will remove the trailer wiring harness and install a dust cap over the wiring receptacle. Owner notification letters were mailed May 11, 2026. You can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 (recall number 290), and you can check whether your VIN is involved by searching NHTSA.gov.
