Ford F-150 Lightning BEV Recall 25V313: ESC May Stay Off After Restart, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 25V313, reported May 9, 2025, 6 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2022-2023 Ford F-150 Lightning electric trucks may not turn on the electronic stability control (ESC) system at the start of each drive. The SYNC software can fail to activate ESC every time the ignition is switched on. These vehicles were previously repaired under an earlier recall, and the repair was done incorrectly, so the problem remains and the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 126 for electronic stability control.

If ESC is not active, the driver may not realize the system is off and may keep driving without its help. Electronic stability control helps the truck keep its direction and control during slippery or sudden maneuvers, so without it the risk of a crash is higher.

Authorized Ford dealers will update the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) software at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed June 18, 2025. You can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 25C15. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
