What this recall means for you
Certain 2023 vehicles built before software version 2023.38.4 may have a circuit board in the electric power steering assist that can become overstressed. When this happens, power steering assist can be lost after the vehicle comes to a stop and then accelerates again.
Without power steering assist, the wheel requires noticeably more effort to turn, especially at low speeds. That added effort raises the risk of a crash.
The remedy is a free over-the-air software update, which Tesla has released. Owners were mailed notification letters on March 25, 2025. You can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752, referencing recall SB-25-00-004, and you can check your VIN for open recalls on your vehicle.
