Ford F-150 Lightning BEV Recall 24V949: Front Control Arm Can Detach, Causing Loss of Steering

NHTSA campaign 24V949, reported December 19, 2024, 11,922 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The upper ball joint nut on the front upper control arm may not have been tightened properly during assembly. Over time, this can allow the control arm to separate from the knuckle assembly.

If the front upper control arm detaches, the vehicle can lose steering and control, which increases the risk of a crash.

The repair is free at an authorized Ford dealer. Dealers will inspect the upper control arm ball joint nut and replace the nut and/or knuckle assembly as needed. Owners who received a notification letter mailed February 10, 2025 can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Check your VIN for open recalls to see whether your vehicle is affected.
