Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall 24V944: Rearview Camera May Not Display, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 24V944, reported December 19, 2024, 79,365 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Incorrect software in the rearview camera module can cause the rearview camera image not to display. When this happens, the vehicle no longer meets federal rear visibility requirements (FMVSS 111), and the driver has reduced visibility behind the vehicle.

Without a working rear camera image, a driver may not see people, children, or objects directly behind the vehicle while backing up, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the rearview camera module software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 21, 2025. You can contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403, and you should check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
