Gillig LOW Floor Recall 24V921: Odometer may not show mileage in electric mode, risking missed maintenance

NHTSA campaign 24V921, reported December 11, 2024, 9 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2023 Gillig Low Floor diesel-hybrid transit buses, the odometer does not display accumulated mileage when the bus is running in full electric (EV) mode. This means the bus does not meet federal display requirements for vehicle controls and displays.

Because the mileage reading is missing during electric operation, a driver or fleet operator may not know when safety-related maintenance is due. That delay could affect the safe operation of the bus and increase the risk of a crash.

Gillig will install a new speedometer gauge at no cost. Owners can contact Gillig customer service at 1-800-735-1500 or 1-510-264-5073. Owner notification letters were mailed December 20, 2024, and you can also check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
