What this recall means for you
Certain 2024 Cybertruck vehicles may show a delayed rearview camera image after the vehicle is shifted into reverse. Because the image can lag, the driver has less view of what is behind the vehicle, which increases the risk of a backover crash. The vehicles also fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111, which covers rear visibility.
Tesla has released a free over-the-air software update that fixes the problem, so no visit to a dealer is required for the repair. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 25, 2024. If you have questions, you can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752.
Check whether your vehicle is affected by entering your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup site or by contacting Tesla, and confirm the software update has been installed.
