Nova Bus LFS Recall 24V647: Driver's seat belt may not retract, raising injury risk

NHTSA campaign 24V647, reported November 5, 2024, 1,570 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Nova Bus LFS and LFS Artic buses from model years 2010 through 2020 (LFS Artic) and 2012 through 2024 (LFS) have a driver's front seat belt that may not retract properly. A belt that stays loose cannot hold the driver as firmly in place, so it can increase the risk of injury in a crash. The vehicles also fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 209 for seat belt assemblies.

Nova Bus will install additional seat stoppers to the driver's rear partition at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on July 4, 2025. This recall expands and replaces earlier recall 23V-350, so buses previously repaired under that recall will need the new remedy completed.

If you own or operate one of these buses, check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls and contact an authorized Nova Bus dealer to schedule the free repair.
