Ford Ranger Recall 24V597: Power Windows May Not Reverse, Risking Pinch Injuries

NHTSA campaign 24V597, reported August 9, 2024, 70,483 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain vehicles have a power window problem: when the windows are closed using the global closing feature and an object is detected, the windows may not automatically reverse. As a result, the vehicle does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 118 for power-operated window systems.

A window that keeps closing on an obstruction can exert excessive force and pinch a driver or passenger before it retracts, which increases the risk of injury.

Dealers will update the driver door module and passenger door module software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 13, 2024. You can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 24C24, and you should check your VIN for any open recalls.
