Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall 24V586: Child seat tether welds may fail; free dealer fix

NHTSA campaign 24V586, reported August 8, 2024, 243 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The second-row seat back frame has child seat tether welds that may be insufficiently strong. This can reduce the seat's ability to properly restrain a child during a crash, and the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 225 for child restraint anchorage systems. A child who is not properly restrained in a crash can face a higher risk of injury.

Authorized dealers will reinforce the child seat tether welds on the seat back frame at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed October 3, 2024. If you have questions, you can contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403, referencing recall number 85B.

If you own a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls and schedule the free repair with an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
