What this recall means for you
Certain 2024 Rivian R1S and R1T vehicles may be missing the dashboard airbag warning label. This label warns that an airbag can pose increased risks to infants and children seated in the front seat. Because the label may be absent, these vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208, which covers occupant crash protection, and drivers may not be aware of the danger.
Without the warning, an owner may not realize that placing an infant or child in the front seat near an active airbag could increase the risk of serious injury in a crash. Rivian mailed owners the warning label information at no cost, with owner notification letters sent May 30, 2024.
If you own one of these vehicles, contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4264 (recall FSAM-1429) to confirm your vehicle is included and to get the label information. The remedy is free, and you can also check your VIN for any open recalls.
