Ford Escape Recall 23V506: Instrument panel may go dark, hiding speed and warning lights

NHTSA campaign 23V506, reported July 21, 2023, 38,695 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The digital instrument panel cluster in these vehicles may have been improperly soldered, which can keep the instrument panel from lighting up. When the panel is dark, critical safety information such as the speedometer and warning lights is not visible to the driver, which can increase the risk of a crash.

The vehicles fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101, which covers controls and displays. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 4, 2023.

Dealers will replace the instrument panel cluster module or the panel as needed, free of charge. To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your VIN for open recalls, or contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 23C25.
