International LT Recall 23V370: ABS Warning Light May Not Stay On, Hiding Brake Faults

NHTSA campaign 23V370, reported May 25, 2023, 59,684 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2021 IC Bus and International trucks and buses may have an anti-lock brake system (ABS) warning light that does not stay illuminated when an ABS malfunction exists while the vehicle is moving with the ignition on. The vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121 for air brake systems.

Because the light may not warn the driver of a problem with the ABS, a brake malfunction could go unnoticed, which could increase the risk of a crash. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on July 24, 2023. Owners may also contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825, referencing Navistar recall number 23515.

Authorized dealers will update the vehicle software free of charge. Towing variant vehicles under this campaign will not be repaired under recall 24V-8918. You can check whether your vehicle has any open recalls by entering its VIN on the NHTSA website.
