BMW 760i Recall 23V050: Passenger Airbags May Be Disabled in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 23V050, reported February 3, 2023, 397 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain front passenger seats may not register their position correctly because of a software fault in the seat control unit. When this happens, the front passenger airbag, knee airbag, and active headrest can be switched off, so they will not deploy as intended in a crash and occupants face a higher risk of injury.

The fix is a free software reprogramming of the front passenger seat electronic control unit, performed by an authorized BMW dealer. Owners were notified by mail starting March 10, 2023. If you have questions, you can call BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417, and you should check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
