International MV Recall 22V849: Mislabeled High-Voltage Cables Risk Electrical Shock

NHTSA campaign 22V849, reported November 17, 2022, 95 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2021-2023 International MV vehicles may have high-voltage positive cables, which connect the battery packs to the manual service disconnects, that were mislabeled. A technician or first responder could mistake an energized cable for a de-energized one.

The main danger is electrical shock and injury to anyone who works on or responds to the vehicle, because the cable may appear safe to handle when it is not. Dealers will reinstall the battery cables and replace the associated warning labels, and the repair is free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2023, and remedy parts are expected to become available in the first quarter of 2023.

Check your VIN for open recalls and contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 with questions. Ask your authorized dealer to schedule the free repair once parts are available.
