Hyundai Ioniq 5 Recall 22V324: Software error may let parked vehicle roll away

NHTSA campaign 22V324, reported May 11, 2022, 10,729 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A software error in the Shifter Control Unit (SCU) can cause the parking mechanism to disengage, so the vehicle may roll away even when it is parked. A rollaway raises the risk of a crash or injury.

Until the repair is done, Hyundai recommends using the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) every time you park. Authorized dealers will update the Shifter Control Unit software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 14, 2022.

To check whether your vehicle is affected, enter your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup or contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 (Hyundai recall number 228). If your vehicle is involved, schedule the free software update at an authorized Hyundai dealer.
