What this recall means for you
Certain 2022 Toyota 4Runner, Tacoma, Highlander, and Highlander Hybrid vehicles have a load carrying capacity modification label that may not be permanent and can fade until it is illegible. The label shows how much weight the vehicle can safely carry, and the vehicles do not fully meet the federal tire and rim selection requirements that depend on it.
If the label becomes unreadable, the vehicle could be loaded beyond its safe capacity, which increases the risk of a crash.
The repair is free. Gulf States Toyota will mail a replacement load carrying capacity label along with detailed installation instructions. Owner notification letters were mailed June 30, 2022. If you have questions, contact Gulf States Toyota customer service at 1-800-444-1074 and reference recall number 22R1. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
