Land Rover Range Rover Recall 22V219: Driver's seat belt may not lock during hard braking

NHTSA campaign 22V219, reported April 5, 2022, 14,812 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016-2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles have a driver's seat belt emergency locking retractor that may not lock as intended. The defect means these vehicles do not fully comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 209 (Seat Belt Assemblies) and 208 (Occupant Crash Protection).

The problem can occur during hard braking before a crash. If the retractor fails to lock, the seat belt may not restrain you as designed, which increases the risk of injury in a collision.

Dealers will inspect the driver's seat belt assembly and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed July 29, 2022. You can contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837 (recall N678), and you can check your VIN for open recalls. If your vehicle was previously inspected under recall 19V-350 but did not receive a replacement seat belt assembly, this new remedy must still be performed.
