Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 Recall 22V098: Loose wiring can cut power to steering assist, headlights and wipers

NHTSA campaign 22V098, reported February 18, 2022, 6 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A wiring harness connected to the prefuse box in the engine compartment may not be properly secured. If it works loose, it can deactivate fused components, including the power steering assist, the headlights and the windshield wipers.

Driving with power steering assist, headlights or wipers inoperable can increase the risk of a crash. Losing steering assist makes the vehicle harder to steer, and losing headlights or wipers reduces your ability to see the road and be seen by others.

Authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers will replace the prefuse box free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2022. You can also contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
