International LT Recall 22V092: Backup Lights May Be Wrong Color, Reducing Visibility

NHTSA campaign 22V092, reported February 17, 2022, 4,277 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The LED backup lights on these trucks are the wrong color. They are white when federal lighting standards require them to meet a different color requirement, so the lights do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 for lamps and reflective devices.

Because the backup lights may not be as visible to other drivers as they should be, the risk of a crash goes up, particularly when the vehicle is reversing.

Authorized dealers will inspect the LED backup lights and replace them as needed, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 1, 2022. You can also contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 (recall number 22503), and check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
