Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall 21V950: Headlights May Fail, Reducing Nighttime Visibility

NHTSA campaign 21V950, reported December 9, 2021, 36,929 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain vehicles have smart lighting modules that received an incomplete software update. As a result, one or both headlights can stop working, leaving the driver with less light on the road and making it harder for oncoming drivers to see the vehicle.

Reduced headlight function lowers visibility for the driver and other traffic, which raises the risk of a crash. The federal lighting safety standard (FMVSS 108) is not met while the defect is present.

Dealers will reprogram the smart lighting module software at no charge. Owners can contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number Y72), and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
