Ford Bronco Sport Recall 21V922: Rear brake linings may reduce braking performance

NHTSA campaign 21V922, reported November 23, 2021, 114,666 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2021-2022 Ford Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles may have rear brake linings that were manufactured incorrectly. The affected parts can reduce braking performance, and the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 135 for light vehicle brake systems.

In some situations, you may need to press the brake pedal harder than normal, and the distance needed to stop the vehicle may be longer. This increases the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. Dealers will replace the front brake pads at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 17, 2022. You can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall 21C31), and you should check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
