Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall 21V797: High Beams May Not Activate in Auto Mode, Reducing Visibility

NHTSA campaign 21V797, reported October 14, 2021, 7,082 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles without automatic high beams, the high beam headlights will not turn on when the master lighting switch is set to Auto. The driver must first move the switch to the On position before high beams will activate. This means the vehicle does not meet federal lighting safety requirements.

Difficulty activating the high beams can reduce visibility at night, which increases the risk of a crash.

Authorized dealers will reprogram the vehicle at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed October 28, 2021. You can contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number Y66), and you can check your VIN for any open recalls.
