Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Recall 21V758: Water Can Short Brake Module and Cause Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 21V758, reported September 29, 2021, 3,241 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2021-2022 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks were built with an electronic brake control module whose brake pressure modulator valve bolts may not be properly tightened. The seal between the two sub-assemblies can fail, allowing water to get into the valve.

Water inside the brake pressure modulator valve can cause an electrical short circuit, which increases the risk of a vehicle fire. Until the repair is done, the company advises owners to park the vehicle outside and away from other structures.

The remedy is free: an authorized dealer will replace the brake pressure modulator valve assembly at no charge. Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and should check their VIN for open recalls.
