Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall 21V729: Rearview camera may not display image, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 21V729, reported September 21, 2021, 69,138 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A software error in the radio can prevent the rearview camera image from appearing on the screen. Without that image, the driver has less view of the area behind the vehicle, which is not compliant with the federal rear visibility standard.

A rearview camera that does not display an image reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash, particularly while backing up and near people or objects behind the vehicle.

The repair is free: the manufacturer will update the radio software at an authorized dealer. Owners may also contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403, and should check their VIN for open recalls.
