East TO West Alta Recall 21V444: LP/CO detector misplaced; gas leaks may go undetected

NHTSA campaign 21V444, reported June 11, 2021, 10 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2021 East to West Alta travel trailers have a propane/carbon monoxide (LP/CO) detector installed in the wrong location. This can prevent the detector from picking up a propane leak or carbon monoxide in time.

Without early warning, a propane leak can increase the risk of fire, and carbon monoxide exposure can cause injury. Owners should not rely on the existing detector until the recall repair is completed.

The repair is free. Authorized dealers will install a new detector in the correct location. Owners who have questions can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-264-6664, referencing recall number 501-1366. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
