Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 Recall 21V370: Loose Steering Tie Rod Clamps Can Cause Steering Loss

NHTSA campaign 21V370, reported May 19, 2021, 479 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain school buses have tie rod clamps that may be loose. Over time, a loose clamp can allow the tie rod ends to loosen, break, or detach from the steering system.

If a tie rod end breaks or detaches, the driver can lose steering control, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the tie rod clamp bolts and nuts at no cost to you. Owners who have questions can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712, referencing recall number FL-888. You can also check whether your vehicle has any open recalls by entering its VIN on the NHTSA website.
