Nova Bus LFS Recall 21V151: Brake and tail lights mounted too high, reducing visibility

NHTSA campaign 21V151, reported March 9, 2021, 123 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The brake lights and tail lights on these buses are mounted with their center line higher than federal standards allow. This means they fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108, which covers lamps and reflective devices. Because the lights may be less visible to drivers behind the bus, the risk of a crash is increased.

The manufacturer, Nova Bus, will notify owners and provide instructions for interchanging the positions of the brake light and tail light components with the turn signal light components. The recall is expected to begin in May 2021, and the repair is free of charge.

If you own one of these buses, watch for the recall notice from Nova Bus, or contact Nova customer service at 1-800-350-6682 for more information. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your bus is affected.
