Freightliner Cascadia Recall 21V007: Steer tires can separate or blow out, risking loss of control

NHTSA campaign 21V007, reported January 13, 2021, 4,341 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2020-2022 Freightliner Cascadia sleeper trucks are equipped with Bridgestone R284, R268, or R283S ECOPIA steer axle tires used with a specific air dam. The steer tires may experience tread separation or blow-outs while the truck is being driven.

Tread separation or a blow-out can cause a loss of vehicle control, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners of affected trucks should watch for notification from Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA).

The remedy is free: authorized dealers will replace the steer tires at no cost to the owner. To check whether your truck is affected, contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 (recall FL872) or check your VIN for open recalls.
