Mercedes-Benz Metris Recall 20V729: Brake Fluid Leak Could Reduce Braking Performance

NHTSA campaign 20V729, reported November 24, 2020, 562 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz Metris right-hand drive vans may have screwed fittings near the front and rear axles that were not installed correctly. The fitting connects the rigid steel brake lines running under the vehicle to the brake hoses.

A poor connection can leak, causing a sudden loss of brake fluid. This can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected vehicle, expect a notice from Daimler Vans USA. Dealers will inspect the fittings at the brake line and hose connections and correct them as needed, at no cost to you. You can also contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267 (recall number VS2BREMPOS), and check your VIN for open recalls.
