Nissan Leaf Recall 20V412: Rear Camera Image Can Vanish in Reverse, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 20V412, reported July 17, 2020, 6,157 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The rear-view camera image can disappear while the vehicle is in reverse. Without the picture, the driver has less view of what is behind the car, which fails the federal rear visibility standard.

A missing camera image increases the risk of a crash, especially when backing up in parking lots, driveways, or other areas where people, pets, or objects may be behind the vehicle.

The repair is free. Nissan will notify owners, and authorized dealers will update the back-up camera software at no charge. Owners can contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, and should check their VIN for any open recalls.
