Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 Recall 20V329: Worn Shocks Can Cause Loss of Control and Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 20V329, reported June 5, 2020, 38 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450, GLS 450, and GLS 580 4MATIC vehicles may have front strut and rear shock absorber pistons with faulty seals. The seals can leak and allow the shocks to wear out prematurely.

Worn front struts and rear shock absorbers can affect how the vehicle handles and how well the driver can control it, which increases the risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz USA will notify owners. Dealers will replace the front strut assemblies and rear shock absorbers free of charge. Owners can contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2020090001. You can also check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
