Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Recall 20V142: Hood May Open Unexpectedly While Driving

NHTSA campaign 20V142, reported March 12, 2020, 1,909 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2020 full-size pickup trucks may have hood-latch striker wires that were not heat-treated properly. The wires can fracture, which would allow the hood to come open while the vehicle is being driven.

An unexpectedly opened hood can block the driver's view of the road and increase the risk of a crash. Owners should watch for any sign that the hood is not securely latched and check their vehicle's VIN for open recalls.

GM will notify affected owners, and an authorized dealer will replace the hood assembly at no cost. Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267.
