What this recall means for you
The occupant classification system in these vehicles may have been improperly calibrated. This sensor is meant to detect whether a seat is occupied and by whom, so the front passenger airbag can be deployed correctly. If the calibration is wrong, the passenger airbag may not deploy as designed in a crash.
If the airbag does not deploy as intended, the front seat passenger faces an increased risk of injury in a collision.
Mercedes-Benz USA will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the passenger seat cushion at no cost to you. The recall began July 31, 2020. You can contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372, and you can check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
