Subaru Ascent Recall 19V855: Transmission Sensor Can Cause Sudden Loss of Drive Power

NHTSA campaign 19V855, reported December 2, 2019, 76,842 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The transmission hydraulic sensor may read fluid pressure inaccurately. If it reads pressure higher than the actual level, hydraulic pressure drops, and the transmission drive chain may lose proper tension. This can cause a loss of drive power and an increased risk of a crash.

Subaru will notify owners. Dealers will reprogram the transmission control unit, and the hydraulic sensor harness will be replaced on vehicles with certain stored diagnostic trouble codes. Any vehicle confirmed to have experienced low drive chain tension will have its transmission assembly replaced. All repairs are free of charge.

If you own a 2019 Subaru Ascent, check whether your vehicle has open recalls using your VIN, and contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614 with recall number WUV-07 to arrange the free repair at an authorized dealer.
