International HV Recall 19V838: Slow brake release may raise risk of brake or tire fire

NHTSA campaign 19V838, reported November 21, 2019, 3 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2020 International HV trucks were built with a non-Quick Release Modulator Valve instead of the specified Quick Release Modulator Valve. This may lengthen the time it takes for the brake chambers to exhaust air when the brakes are released, and the vehicle does not meet the federal air brake standard (FMVSS 121).

The longer brake release time could increase the risk of a brake or tire fire.

The repair is free. Navistar will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the non-Quick Release Modulator Valve with a Quick Release Modulator Valve at no charge. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 (recall number 19519), and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
