What this recall means for you
Certain trucks have front seat belt pretensioners that, when they fire during a crash, can release hot gas through an opening in the pretensioner bracket. That gas may ignite the carpet floor covering inside the vehicle, which could start a fire in the cabin.
A vehicle fire is a serious hazard to occupants. Owners should check whether their vehicle is included by entering the VIN at the NHTSA recall lookup site, and contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 with questions.
GM will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will close off the opening in the pretensioner bracket free of charge.
