Volvo VNL Recall 19V617: Front Axle Beams May Crack, Risking Loss of Control

NHTSA campaign 19V617, reported August 21, 2019, 20 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2015 Volvo VNL trucks have front steer axles that missed a heat treatment step during manufacturing. This leaves the axle beams weaker than intended, so they may fracture.

If an axle beam breaks, the vehicle can lose control, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and act on the notice.

Volvo Trucks will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will inspect and replace the front axles as needed, at no cost to you. You can also contact Meritor customer service at 1-800-528-6586, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
