Ford F-150 Recall 19V433: Transmission May Downshift to First Gear Unexpectedly, Risking Crash

NHTSA campaign 19V433, reported June 10, 2019, 107,857 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The powertrain control module software in these vehicles, which was reprogrammed under an earlier recall, lacks necessary updates. As a result, the transmission can unexpectedly downshift into first gear at any vehicle speed.

An unexpected downshift into first gear can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this hazard and take the recall seriously.

Ford will notify owners, and authorized dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module free of charge. Owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 for more information. You can also check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
