Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 Recall 18V930: Bus Engine Can Shut Off and Not Restart, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 18V930, reported December 21, 2018, 5,423 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain school buses with an optional auxiliary power outlet can have an electrical overload on that circuit. The overload may blow the ignition fuse and shut down the engine.

An engine shutdown that cannot be restarted increases the risk of a crash, since the driver may lose power and control of the bus in traffic.

The repair is free. Dealers will modify the wiring so the power outlet no longer affects the ignition circuit. Contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712, and check your VIN for open recalls.
