Volvo VNL Recall 18V811: Tire Sidewall Cords May Expose, Causing Rapid Air Loss

NHTSA campaign 18V811, reported November 15, 2018, 103 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Bridgestone tires with specific date codes, size 425/65R22.5, may have exposed sidewall steel body cords. This can lead to unexpected, rapid air loss while the vehicle is in use, and the tires do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 119 for new pneumatic tires.

Rapid loss of tire air pressure can increase the risk of a crash. If you own an affected truck, you should not ignore the issue, and you should watch for signs of tire trouble such as pressure warnings or unusual handling.

The repair is free. Contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-528-6586, or take your truck to a Bridgestone Tire or Volvo Truck service center for inspection and replacement of the tires as needed. You can also check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
