Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall 18V759: Floor Mat Can Trap Accelerator, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 18V759, reported October 29, 2018, 4,822 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and Trackhawk vehicles may have a driver's floor mat with insufficient clearance from the accelerator pedal. The mat can interfere with the pedal, possibly keeping it from returning to its idle position.

If the floor mat prevents the accelerator pedal from returning to idle, the vehicle could keep accelerating when the driver is not asking for more power, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should stop using the affected mat until it is replaced.

The remedy is free: dealers will replace any affected driver's floor mat at no charge, and Chrysler will notify owners. You can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number UB3), and you should check your VIN for open recalls at an authorized dealer.
